Nowadays you can get iPod and iPhone docks in any shape and size (some of them pretty insanely designed!) but all of them make use of the iDevices’ powerful audio capabilities. AOC has launched a new device called the Aire iPlay (e2343Fi) monitor, which focuses more on the video playback feature of the iDevices. The Full HD monitor measures 23-inches and is the first such device to come with a 30-pin dock at its base for smooth playback of all types of content stored on your iPod or iPhone- photos, audio and video.

You can watch video on 1080p resolution on the 16:9 LED display which offers 50,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 2 ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness. The display is 37 times bigger than that of an iDevice! Audio output is through the 10 watt stereo SRS Sound speakers found at the base of the unit. It also comes with an in-built timer that can be set to turn off the monitor automatically.

Besides iPods and iPhone, the e2343Fi monitor can also take in other MP3 players through its audio input and D-Sub, HDCP, DVI-D and HDMI inputs for connecting a PC or even a gaming console. The monitor is compatible with Screen+ software which lets you divide the display in four independent work areas, while the pre-installed iMenu software lets you access the monitor’s OSD using a mouse.

The AOC Aire iPlay e2343Fi monitor has a thickness of around 0.5 inches (12.9) mm and measures 21.5 x 7.2 x 15.9 inches (54.6 x 18.3 x 40.4 cm) with a total weight of around 6.3 lb (2.85 kg).

The AOC Aire iPlay e2343Fi monitor comes for a retail price of US$279.99.
