Apple has released the new legacy iOS 5.1.1 update corrects some bugs in the OS and also brings three important security fixes.
The new software update is meant for the iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPhone 3GS/4/4S, and the iPad and iPad 2. The new iOS 5.1.1 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1521 ) software update addresses three major vulnerabilities in Safari browser, in addition to improved syncing of Reading list and Safari Bookmarks across devices. In addition, routine bug fixes have been included with many security fixes under the hood.
The first bug that is fixed by the update is the ‘’Unable to purchase’ bug which appears after an app is purchased.  The second bug is the one involving the HDR (High Dynamic Range) option, where the devices failed to respond when the user choose the HDR option via the Lock Screen shortcut. This update also includes a fix that will lead to a smoother experience on the AirPlay video playback. The update enables you to easily switch between 2G and 3G networks on the WiFi+3G variants of the iPad or iPad 2.
The update file is around 54 MB and can be downloaded directly over the air (OTA) through Wi-Fi or 3G network. Alternatively, the update can also be installed from a PC or Mac with iTunes installed.
