Samsung and Apple have been vying for the same spot though Apple has been leading the race all along. Samsung has also been doing everything possible to attract users. A recent attempt in this way was the launch of a device called the Galaxy Player that looks like an iPod, earlier this year. The 3.6-inch version of the Galaxy Player is already available at Best Buy for $149.99 and it will be soon followed by a 4.2-inch version. A press release from Samsung said that gaming, videos and music were more fun with the two new Galaxy Players, available in 4.2-inch WVGA screen or 3.6-inh HVGA screen variants.

Running on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Galaxy Player has the ability to connect to Wi-Fi and get access to latest stuffs instantly. It supports different formats and users can even play their own creations via the Galaxy Player. A USB port and a Bluetooth help it to connect it to different devices and a microSD slot helps in increasing the storage capacity. This gives the Galaxy Player a definite advantage over the iPod, which does not come with an expandable memory. Another feature worth mentioning is the dual-stereo speakers which improve the sound quality of videos, games and music, says Samsung. The 4.2 inch Galaxy Player and the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 can be pre-ordered from May 4.
