iPod vs. PlayStation Vita: Who wins?

Bookmark and Share

If you’re willing to shell out money on the latest handheld game console by Sony Computer Entertainment, PlayStation Vita, I’d suggest you to give it a second thought, because it’s nowhere near iPod Touch. In the rest of the article you’ll encounter three of many reasons why to stick to iPod Touch.

Size always matters:

With Herculean size of Vita, it has become next to impossible to carry it in our pockets and move around. Sony has designed it in such a way that larger display and some other features makes its size to be 3.289” X 7.2” X 0.73”.

iPod Touch revolutionized mobile gaming with its compact and handy features. Whenever one feels like playing, even on the toilet, he needs not to think twice if he’d an iPod Touch in his pocket. But in case of planned moves, like if you have a flight or a bus booking, you may carry Vita with yourself. At the same time who has so much time to spare to add another thing in the check-list.

The Cost:

Vita is way too expensive for most of us. Let’s take the price list in Amazon, where the Wi-Fi version of Vita costs 200 odd sterling, while the 3G version has a tag of around 270 sterling. Moreover, you have to shell out around 40 sterling more to get one game & a 4GB memory card from Amazon. This takes your minimum cost of playing a game, on Vita to 265 sterling.

Now when it comes to iPod Touch, apart from basic cost of 153 sterling, you hardly have to shell out 2 sterling for the thousands of games in the library, with some free games too.

Is only the home console gaming experience apt?

Although while playing on your Vita, you may experience a mobile PlayStation 3 experience on your palm, you must think is it all that you wanted? In fact, I’ve experienced that while coming down from the 25th floor in an elevator; my game didn’t get loaded by the time I reached the ground floor. Even though, the home console gaming experience is encountered on this handheld one, sometimes the loading time may really piss you off.

Now it’s up to you to give a second thought on your pending decisions regarding the handheld game consoles.

Why such a negative review? The games the ps vita plays simply can not be delivered in the ipod touch. The vita is for a totally different audience; Gamers. The touch is a great little multimedia player, and even mini computer. It can pplay amazing casual games that keep getting better and better, but it isnt a dedicated console as the Vita is.

Same thing you said with out the bias. Yes this is a apple fanboi sight, but you don’t
have to bash everything not apple. Seems apple is like your religion or something. Sad.

I strongly agree with you. You must not compare a beast to a lamb.

What the hell? I can’t even.. If you’re going to compare two products, don’t show any of your preferences. Your opinions are too biased. Ps Vita ”is nowhere near ipod touch”? Are you kidding me? Well, that’s true BECAUSE PSVita is on the top of the pyramid and the ipod touch is only in the mere bottom, how about that. The games in the Ipod touch may seem cheap but the quality of its games can never be compared to handheld games like the Ps Vita. You can buy $1 apps but the probability of you playing it after a couple of times is near zero. Where as in the PS Vita, games like Uncharted..I don’t even know where to start. It’s true that the games may be a bit pricey, but you get value for the money you pay. And that is satisfaction as well as enjoyment in a long period of time. Where as in the ipod touch, what..you pay $1.99 a number of times for 5-minute ‘games’?
I’m not siding with the PS Vita, but I am merely stating you the facts, and informing you the truth, which you do not seem to know. Ignorance is a sin, my friend. I know what I am saying because I own both device. Don’t get me wrong here, ipod touch is good, but don’t go around saying that it’s as if it’s the most holy thing on Earth. You are showing your obsession with the product. And as the person above me says, it seems like apple is your religion. You are hating on everything that is not from Apple. First, the 3DS, and now this? While I know that everyone has the right of their opinion, the case with you is not like that. It’s called propaganda. Man, that IS sad :(

A stupid article written by a stupid apple fanboi. Such a waste of time reading this.

This article was a total joke.

I don’t really care about size, in fact if the PS Vita has a bigger screen, then that makes it a whole lot better than the touch. I say Vita wins, not to mention the 3g capability.
